Maple Custard Pie

Easy Pie Crust
  1. - 1/4 pound (1 stick) butter, softened
  2. - 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  3. - 2 cups flour
  4. Pie Filling
  5. - 3 eggs, beaten
  6. - 1 cup sugar
  7. - 1/2 cup maple syrup
  8. - 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  9. - 3 tablespoons flour
  10. - 1 cup buttermilk
  11. - Juice of half a lemon
  12. - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  13. - 1/2 teaspoon salt
Maple-Bacon Nut Crumble
  1. - 4 cups mixed nuts
  2. - 1/2 cup maple syrup
  3. - 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  4. - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  5. - 4 strips bacon, cooked and diced fine
Pie Crust
  1. Mix butter and cream cheese together in a mixer until well blended. Slowly add flour and mix until dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about a half hour.
  2. Form dough into a disk and put in bottom of pie tin. Form crust by pressing dough across the bottom and up the sides of the pie tin.
Pie Filling
  1. Mix the eggs, sugar, syrup, butter, flour, and buttermilk together in a large bowl. Add lemon juice, vanilla, and salt and mix until smooth.
  2. Pour into prepared pie crust and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Garnish with fresh berries and top with whipped cream.
Maple-Bacon Nut Crumble
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Transfer to a large baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
  3. Allow to cool and use for desserts, salads, or alone as a snack.
